ZFS! I'm using encrypted ZFS on my EEE Pc with 1GB of RAM and some day I'll try zfs send and receive over ssh for backup and updating server. http://blog.allanglesit.com/2013/09/zfs-send-and-receive/

If only ZFS hadn't such a crap licence (that was choosen for perfect Linux INcompatibility and that is the reason for witch you will never see ZFS officially in the kernel tree) I'll stick on btfs that will have all ZFS features and more with better performance...

btrfs is very promising indeed and will solve all ZFS problems, licence included.

I know a joke about UDP, but you might not get it.

Agreed it's promising, but don't rush to install it on to your production systems for the time being, as it is not yet quite as reliable as older and more battle-hardened file systems: http://blog.fefe.de/?ts=a9f560e2

I'd slightly tweak that sentence and state it as "one BIG problem with LIFE is, one problem, many solutions and you have to take a decision and responsibility."
I prefer the UNIX fast and furious way:
That's fine by me, whatever floats your boat. Since the word "sysadmin" was mentioned in the thread I wanted to add a word of caution here, that btrfs might not be quite ready for all uses right now. As you rightly point out, it's down to one's own decision, weighting risks and benefits.

In case people are still interested in file system wars, here is a Phoronix benchmark of EXT4 vs. F2FS vs. Btrfs on Linux 4.something. Ext4 is actually not as bad as often stated: www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=linux-44-47-fs
