Hi liebe LUG-ianer
Also, ich bin Wolfgang Beikircher, genannt 'Wolli' *gg*.

Bye,
Chris

Over the past decade, the Open Source Software (OSS) phenomenon has had

The goal of OSS 2008 is to provide an international forum where a
diverse community of professionals from academia, industry and public
administration can come together to share research findings and
practical experiences. The conference is also meant to provide
information and education to practitioners, identify directions for
further research, and to be an ongoing platform for technology transfer

Salve a tutti.
Grazie e ciao a tutti.

CASE Seminar Dec 20th h15
Place: Seminar Room
Time: 15.00 to 16.00
SPEAKER: dr. Fabrizio Capobianco, CEO Funambol inc.
TITLE: Mobile Open Source
Mobile 2.0 messaging, powered by open source.
The name Funambol is derived from the Latin words funis (rope) and
ambulare (walking), meaning a tightrope walker. Just as a tightrope
walker must be strong, brave, vigilant and nimble to constantly adapt to
changing conditions, Funambol continuously balances the needs of our
open source community and the marketplace.
Mobile 2.0 is the next HUGE wave of innovative mobile services and data.
Whereas Web 2.0 meant user generated content (wikis, photo sharing),
collaboration (social networking) and interactive technology such as
AJAX, Mobile 2.0 is ushering in a similar era to wireless, and Funambol
is at the forefront.
Mobile 2.0 is the outgrowth of several compelling trends:
* Better, faster, cheaper wireless devices, networks and data
services and plans
* Messaging "maturation", where people are looking beyond
SMS/texting for the next cool mobile experience
* Emerging technology such as mobile search, presence,
location-based services and navigation
Our vision is to harness and popularize the innovation that open source
can bring to the new world of mobile 2.0 messaging. We believe this will
spur important, creative and exciting new forms of mobile communication,
collaboration and entertainment.
The main topics of the talk will be:
- commercial open source
- mobile open source & Funambol
- Why Italy
short bio:

Reuters and Tibco, founded the first Italian Web company, Internet
Graffiti, in 1994. He also founded Stigma Online, developer of an
information portal product with customers that included Kraft, Novartis,
Italian Broadcasting Television and the Italian Stock Exchange.
Capobianco has taught courses on wireless and mBusiness strategies at
the University of Pavia in Italy, where he holds a Ph.D. in computer
science with a focus on usability. Fabrizio was recognized in 2007 as a
top "40 under 40" leader by American Venture Magazine and by the readers
of Mobile Village for being a consumer email visionary. He writes a blog
that was voted among the 20 best in the wireless industry by
FierceWireless.
