Linux in Kombination mit Win-XP Home auf einem Notebook

Hallo an alle, was würdet ihr mir für eine Linux Distribution empfehlen, wenn ich sie in Kombination mit win-xp-home (kann leider aus bestimmten gründen nicht auf windows verzichten ;o( ) auf meinem Notebook installieren möchte. Wo finde ich diese??? Falls es sie gratis gibt??? grüße Abler Matthias

Vodafone UMTS PCMCIA Karte unter GNU/Linux

Hallo Liste! Ich versuche eine UMTS PCMCIA Karte von Vodafone unter meiner Ubuntu Dapper einzurichten. Die Karte wird erkannt und ich kann mit minicom über dem Device /dev/ttyUSB2 zugreifen und die AT-Befehle schicken. AT OK ATI Manufacturer: Option N.V. Model: GlobeTrotter Fusion Quad Lite Revision: 1.5.5 (Date: May 17 2005, Time: 14:55:44) OK Ich habe mich hauptsächlich am HowTo von Kai Engert orientiert: http://www.kuix.de/umts/vodafone/ Es funktioniert (fast) alles. Ich habe den pin deaktiviert, UMTS als bevorzugte Methode eingestellt u.s.w. Dann habe ich mit kppp (obwohl ich gnome benutze, aber im HowTo benutzt Kai eben kppp) eine Verbindung konfiguriert. Da ist gleich eine Frage aufgetauscht: Welche Authentication muss man konfiguriert? Wenn ich die Voreinstellung "PAP oder CHAP" lasse, dann muss ich einen Benutzernamen und ein Password angeben. Da ich diese Infos nicht habe, habe ich auf Terminal umgestellt. Hier bin ich mir aber nicht sicher, ob das korrekt ist, da Kai in seinem HowTo nicht auf diesen Punkt eingeht. Mit dieser Einstellung initialisiert kppp das Modem und versucht sich einzuwählen. Leider wartet es nach dem Abschicken des ATDT-Befehls unendlich auf eine Antwort. KPPP schickt dem Modem nach einem Timeout ein ATZ, auf dem das Modem ERROR antwortet. In minicom warte ich nach einem ATZATDT*99***1# unendlich. Hier das Log von KPPP: OK ATM1L1 OK ATX3 OK ATDT*99***1#ATZ ERROR Hay jemand von euch bereits Erfahrungen mit einer Vodafone UMTS Karte von Option gesammelt? Kann mir jemand vielleicht einen Tipp geben, was da noch fehlen könnte? Herzlichen Dank! Patrick

Hallo Liste, devo comperare un nuovo laptop e mi serve un consiglio... mi hanno consigliato un DELL latitute D820 [1]. Pensavo comunque di comprare un dell, quindi come soluyione mi andrebbe bene questo. Voi che ne pensate? Scheda wireless

Salve a tutti. Avrei bisogno di una scheda pcmcia wireless da schiaffare dentro il laptop. Un amico che ha un negozio di telefonia mobile mi ha consigliato la Tim Edge Onda N100E (con Sim-card della Tim). Scheda wireless + 3 mesi di accesso gratis con 500 mega da scaricare ogni mese il tutto a 159 euro iva inclusa. [dopo i tre mesi sono 20 euro al mese] Qualcuno ha questa scheda oppure una simile e può darmi un parere? Grazie e ciao, Bep
