modem mit sereillem Anschluss

Hallo Liste! Vielleicht kann mir jemand weiterhelfen. Ich sollte für einen Linux-Interessenten ein analoges Modem (57.600 - seriellem Anschluss) besorgen, das unter Linux sicher funktioniert. Was soll ich ihm empfehlen? Wo kann ich es kaufen? Danke herzlich Luigi

Gentoo

Hat hier jemand Erfahrungen mit Gentoo gemacht? Ich würde gerne eine Installation von Stage2 wagen, hat hier jemand schonmal sowas gemacht? War es kompliziert? Ich nutze momentan Debian als Server Distribution und möchte mir nun Gentoo interessenhalber anschauen.

Hallo, jedes serielle Modem (oder, ok laut Murphies Gesetz, sagen wir mal 99,9999% der seriellen Modems) werden mit Linux funktionieren. Dies hängt damit zusammen dass zwischen PC und Modem eine einfacher serieller Link besteht (das was man über die 8 Bits, keine Parität und 1 Stopbit konfiguriert...) welcher den RS232 Spezifikationen folgt. Von da aus wird _jedes_ serielle Modem über die sog. AT-Befehle gesteuert (auch dies ein Standard) welcher dann die in den Modems integrierte Logik (Chipsätze, davon heute die bekanntesten sicher von USRobotics/3Com) dazu veranlasst mit der Gegenstelle voll autonom eine Verbindung aufzubauen. Die """Treiber""" welche mit Windows oft mitgeliefert werden sagen nur etwas über die unterstützen AT-Befehle aus, nicht mehr. Ich muß Ferdinand in einer Sache recht geben: die Fax-Unterstützung ist einerseits qualitativ ein großer Unterschied von Hersteller zu Hersteller, andererseits auch von der Unterstützung durch Linux. Hier sind nicht alle Sachen so sauber definiert. Du siehst: es sollte alles kein Problem sein. Das einzige was dir Probleme machen könnte, sind internen Modems oder USB-Modems, skurilerweise oft auch als "WinModems" bezeichnet... diese haben keinen intelligenten Chipsatz, der die Komunikation so wie bei seriellen Geräten steuert, sondern dort übernimmt der PC mittels Software diese Funktion. Uno de los objetivos del evento es el de crear o fortalecer los lazos existentes entre las distintas comunidades de usuarios/desarrolladores de software libre del mundo, brindando una oportunidad excepcional para ello. Podría decirse que uno de sus retos actuales es precisamente no defraudar las altas expectativas que la sociedad tiene depositadas en él. Las Jornadas Regionales sobre Software Libre son un foro en el que la comunidad del software libre, incluyendo desarrolladores, promotores, responsables de TIC, investigadores y usuarios pueden poner en común sus logros, necesidades y opiniones. Pretende también ser un medio a traves del cual difundir la cultura del software libre en la sociedad. CONTRIBUCIONES Son bienvenidos artículos que versen sobre software libre, GNU/Linux, etc, en alguna de las siguientes categorías (pero no exclusivamente): - Descripción de proyectos de código abierto en curso, especialmente desde sus equipos de desarrollo. - Descripción de proyectos software que usen de manera significativa o novedosa software libre para su desarrollo. - Experiencias de implantación del software libre. - Iniciativas encaminadas a promover, facilitar o difundir los desarrollos de código abierto: redes, documentación, proyectos institucionales, etc. - Trabajos que analicen el código abierto desde la perspectiva de la Ingeniería del Software: relación con métodos giles (XP, etc), implantación de métodos y técnicas en los proyectos de código abierto, certificación, etc. - Estudio de aspectos sociales, éticos, legales o económicos del software libre: patentes, seguridad, competencia, etc. - Experiencias de contenido abierto en general (no necesariamente software). Los artículos enviados al II Taller sobre Software Libre deben describir trabajo original y no haber sido publicados previamente. La longitud máxima del articulo completo debe ser de 10 páginas (incluyendo figuras y bibliografía). Los formatos preferidos son OpenOffice Writer, HTML, PDF y TXT. Los artículos deberán estar redactados en español o, excepcionalmente, en ingles o portugues. Los trabajos recibidos serán revisados y seleccionados por el comité de programa del II Taller sobre Software Libre. Los autores deberán expresar claramente cual es la contribución original de su trabajo y compararlo adecuadamente con trabajo ya existente. Se valorará el esfuerzo por presentar el contenido del artículo de una manera que lo haga accesible a una audiencia lo más amplia posible. Los artículos aceptados serán distribuidos de acuerdo con la licencia GFDL (GNU Free Document License). Trataremos de facilitar los requerimientos de los presentadores. En aquellos casos en los que no se puedan conseguir equipos especiales, se espera que el presentador provea dicho hardware y/o software. También se espera que cada presentador use su propio laptop en la presentación. REMUNERACION La participación en las 4tas Jornadas Regionales sobre Software Libre es completamente honoraria, tanto para los presentadores como para quienes la organizan, por lo tanto no existe remuneración económica alguna. ABOUT THE URUGUAYAN WORKSHOPS ON FREE SOFTWARE During the last years we attended to the consolidation of the the free software beyond its traditional fields --like the academic one-- extending its scope to business, state administrations and the knowledge of the general software users. It could be say that one of its current challenges is precisely not to dissapoint the high expectations society bears on it. The Uruguayan Workshop on Free Software is a forum in which the free software's community, including developers, promotors, researchers and users can put together their achievements, needings and opinions. It also pretend to be a medium of promoting the free software culture in the society. SUBMISSION OF PAPERS All papers about free software, GNU/Linux, etc., in the following categories (but not excluyent) are welcome: -Descriptions of free software proyects in development, specially from its development teams. -Description of software proyects that use in a significant or innovative way free software for its development. -Experiencies of free software implantation. -Initiatives to promote or facilitate open source developments: networks, documentations, institutional proyects, etc. -Works that analice the open source from the software engineering perspective: relation with giles' methods (XP, etc.), implantation of methods and tecnics in the proyects of open source, certification, etc. -Studies of the social, ethic, legal or economic aspects of free software: patents, security, competence, etc. -Experiences of open content in general (not necesarily about software) Papers should describe an original work and have not been published before. The maximum length of the paper is 10 pages (including pictures and bibliography). The prefered formats are: TXT, OpenOffice Write, HTML and PDF. The papers must be writen in Spanish, English or Portuguese. All received papers will be reviewed and selected by the programation comitee. The authors must clearily express which is the original contribution of they work, and adecuately compare it with already existing works. The effort to present the paper content in a way that makes it accesible to the wider audience possible will be highly valorated. The papers accepted will be distributed in acordance with the GFDL license (GNU Free Document License). We will try to facilitate speakers' requests. In cases where we cannot guarantee special equipment the speaker is expected to supply hardware and/or software. Each speaker is also expected to bring their own laptop to display their presentation. REMUNERATION The participation in the 4th Uruguayan Workshop on Free Software is honorary, both for the speakers and for the organizators, so there is no economical remuneration. Internetverbindungsfreigabe

Hallo Liste!!! Ich habe auf einem WindowsXP-Rechner eine Internetverbindung eingerichtet (Modemverbindung) und für das Netzwerk freigegeben. Auf meinem PC habe ich RedHat 9 installiert und möchte nun über das Netzwerk diese Internetverbindung nutzen. Leider habe ich es nicht geschafft meinem Linux beizubringen, dass sich das Modem nicht auf meinem PC sondern auf einem im Netzwerk liegenden PC befindet... Hat jemand bereits Erfahrung in diesem Bereich oder eine Idee wie ich dieses problem lösen könnte? Die Internetverbindung ist für alle benutzer des netzwerks zum benützen und steuern freigegeben. Sie funktioniert wie ein Proxy-server, mit der Ausnahme dass es (unter Windows) genügt den PC mit der Verbindung als Standardgateway einzutragen... Ich habe beim Linux bereits versucht mit den Gateway- und Proxy-Einstellungen mein Ziel zu erreichen, doch es funktioniert nicht... Wäre super wenn ihr mir bei diesem Problem weiterhelfen könntet!!! Leggere TIFF contenenti piu' pagine

Salve lista, mi sono fatto un numero FAX su http://www.freefax.it/ I FAX mandati al numero che ho potuto scegliere, vengono inoltrati come file TIFF alla mia casella e-mail. Molto pratico! Mi e'adesso arrivato un FAX di 3 pagine. Riesco pero' a leggere solo la prima pagina, perche' non ho trovato un applicativo capace di svolgere pagina nel file TIFF. Ho provato con GIMP ed EOG (Eye Of Gnome). Qualcuno mi puo' consigliare un applicativo che lo sa fare o mi sa indicare il modo di farlo negli applicativi sopra menzionati? Grazie!
