Io mi sono installato il Red Hat 7.0 e poi il 7.2, ma capire tutto da solo (specialmente dopo una giornata di lavoro come operaio) a volte è piuttosto arduo. Cercasi Country Manager per l'Italia al Linux Counter

Thanks Claudio! | | If anyone knows a good volunteer for Italy, please speak up.... Fino adesso c'e' stato il silenzio assoluto nella lista, e dal sito risulta che Claudio e' ancora Country Manager. Quindi credo che fino ad ora nessuno si sia fatto sentire. Se qualcuno del LUGBZ e' interessato a dedicare qualche ora al mese all' "amministrazione dell'Italia" :) puo' mandare una mail a Claudio (brzcld(a)swlibero.org). Hello, My name is Henrik Nilsen Omma, and I am one of the project leaders of a new Open Source Project called TheOpenCD. Our aim is to create a simple to use CD distribution of Open Source software for Windows, and in that way spread the OSS message. I'm writing to various LUGs to announce the launch of our first edition, and hope that you might find it a useful tool in promoting Linux and OSS to a wider public. The disc allows new users can try out Open Source software (OSS) in the comfort of their own, familiar operating system, rather than having to take the drastic step of reformatting their hard drive to install Linux or BSD. The collection, which includes OpenOffice.org, AbiWord and Beonex is primarily intended for non-technical computer users. However, we expect that the disc will appeal first to experienced OSS users, who will hopefully find it a useful vehicle by which to introduce OSS to their less computer-savvy friends. We invite all OSS enthusiasts to download the ISO, burn CDs and distribute them widely to friends, local schools, universities, and companies. VmWare - debian -usb

Hallo an alle letzlich habe ich Vmware Workstation (ver. 3.1 build 1790) unter linux-debian (testing/unstable kernel 2.4.19) installiert. In Vmware habe ich WINXP professional installiert und bis hier alles gut. Problem 1: Vmware hat manche files in /tmp verzeichnis installiert und beim neustart... funktioniert vmware nicht mehr Problem 2: In Vmware -> Devices -> usb port1 erkennt er meine usb hw (plextor cdrw) aber wenn ich dies auswähle, dann erscheint folgende meldung: The specified device appears to be claimed by another driver (usb-storage) on the host operating system which means that the device may be in use. VMware Workstation cannot safely take control of the device until the host driver is unloaded. außerdem in Vmware -> Settings -> Configuration Editor... -> usb kann ich nichts ändern (kann kaum die "menüpunkte" lesen) Problem 3: Ähnlich wie prob. 2 --> kann lpt nicht sehen. (lpt1 - not installed) kann mir jemanden bitte helfen? Danke Hubi

GPRS mit Linux

Hallo! Wer von Euch hat Erfahrung mit GPRS (Infrarot, Nokia 8310) auf einem Linux-Laptop? (RedHat 8) In Google hab ich diesbezügl. nichts gefunden. Unter WIN2000 funktionierts wunderbar, nur möchte ich dieses langsam komplett von der Maschine löschen. Danke schon mal im Voraus. :) bis dann Christian

Automatisches Shutdown Linux Server

Hallo.... ich bin ja noch dabei, einen Mailserver unter Linux einzurichten (qmail). Dabei ist mir folgendes heute morgen eingefallen: Wir haben in letzter Zeit viele Stromausfälle gehabt (der letzte heute morgen!)... den Server würde ich natürlich an ein UPS anschliessen, allerdings hat das Ding ca. 10 Minuten Autonomie. Wie bringe ich das unter Linux fertig, dass sich der Server bei Stromausfall ausschalten soll (in eben der Zeitspanne von 10 Minuten)? cu Pasquale
